This is a full scallop tail 8 sided turret roof cap made for our clients; Dale Ober here in Portland, Oregon to go on their turret roof peak.  The tail design was made to match the roofing shingles cut.  The funny thing was how he had originally just contacted me to order this Fleur De Lis style finial, but when here at my shop realized he needed a good mount for it, after seeing the roof cap I just finished for another client.

Here is the final photo of the turret roof with the new cap in place over the new roofing.  After seeing this shot I asked him about removing the clear plastic film off the copper surface.  I could see how the finial had tarnished, yet the roof cap was still pink.  He has since removed that film off the copper cap.  You can see how it is not resting directly on the shingles. He got it with the hidden roof vent spacer blocks and copper screening under it.

Their roof is a 12/12 pitch.  This roof cap was designed to be a good 36"+ wide with these special tails.  I was able to make 7 sides in a single piece, then splice on the last side behind where it would not be seen in order to make it as seamless as possible.

The right photo shows the only seams this roof cap has. I weighed it before putting on the blocks and screens. It was 15# for the lower section and 6# for the upper part, so that equates to 16.8 sq' of copper used to make it X $35 = $588.
