CBD's Thorup Turret Roof Caps

This was a set of three caps made for a client named Burgess Thorup in Northern California that decided he wanted to bring his wife up here for a scenic drive to come get the caps from us personally. We worked out the details in record time over the phone and a couple e-mails within a couple days, and he came to get them a week later. They have 3 turret roof peaks on their house that are each all built at a 12/12 pitch.

The copper roof cap on the left was a set of two, with a 18/12 pitch. It is 22" wide at the base without the diamond tails you see. We flared out the diamond tails to match the 12/12 pitch of their roof.

The copper roof cap on the right is for the larger center roof, so we recommended to make it even steeper with a 24/12 pitch and they wanted it to have a wider base of 32" (not including the diamond tails). This cap was so large we had to make it in 3 separate pieces. We did not flare those tails out, so it would better fit into their SUV. Below is an example of the cost breakdown we use to discuss the cost of each cap we are asked to quote on.

Right angle tail 14" x 14" x 4 = 5.45 sq.' x $30 = $163.35
Total: $499.50 for this cap x 10% multi order discount = $449.55

Grand Total:
$821.70 for all 3 caps w/ all instructions, fasteners, new screw tip, shipping and packaging costs. We shaved off $150 for their effort to pick them up personally and relieve the need for us to make a shipping crate, so the total was only $671.70 for all three caps.
