Here is a gazebo roof we were contracted to cover with solid 20oz copper sheet metal by Charlie and Cait Jabusch in Kelso, Washington.  This gazebo is for a kiln and spiritually sacred space.  It is so well constructed by the home owners with large solid 10 x 14 timbers, it is clearly the strongest gazebo I have ever seen, let alone worked on. There are double 2x4s under each corner of the roof as well.

They were going to make it with a 4/12 pitch roof, but I persuaded them to make the roof steeper so the copper roof will be seen better from the ground. They were very pleased how it has turned out. Cait is going to spend the next few years making stained leaded glass windows and a mosaic floor. It will be amazing to see it when it is done.

It had about a 6/12 pitch roof lower roof about 10' wide.  The upper roof is a 16/12 pitch, and will be getting a fancy roof cap and weathervane soon. It will be like the Rank roof cap shown below. It took over 4 full days to do this work to cover this upper and lower roof. We made a small peak cap for it so it is protected until we can install the new larger peak cap.

This 20oz copper roof cover cost just under $3,100 for the 205+ square feet of copper needed at a discounted $15 per square foot of copper. We gave them a substantial discount because they had this amazing project we wanted to be involved with, and they are very special people, who are now friends of ours.

To the right is the custom cap they helped design and had us make for their gazebo roof top.  I gave them a special price on this cap, but it normally would cost $1,300 or more.  It is 48" tall and 44" wide with the custom tails, with a 2' deep 3/4" weathervane support pipe built into the center.

Cait also let us have the other tail designs she did to choose from. You can see them on our Roof Cap main info web page.  She is a talented artist who works a lot with clay, and also makes custom stained glass windows to order.

Cathrine Jabusch makes custom stained glass windows to order and has done a lot of clay sculpture as well. Her artistic glass work ranges between $150 - $200 per sq ft. plus materials. She is located in Kelso, Washington. You can e-mail her by clicking on her name or you can call her at: 360-423-7862

Here is a few shots of their gazebo several years later.
