Below are a few more examples of custom copper chimney caps I've made a while back; placing my primary focus on a strong design with as few seams as possible. There is also links to see more photos and details with a price breakdown of the parts used. I now use a thicker 24oz & 32oz copper for these types of projects. Where the standard in the industry is still just 16oz copper, which are usually soldered together. Which is insane! A CBD fabrication is at least twice as sturdy. Note: As you may know, metal and fuel prices had gone up since then, so I had to raise my prices as well along the way. So keep in mind how the prices listed may not reflect CBD current costs. They are here as a guide to see what those had cost at that time. These also show how I have made lots of improvements since then. |

Frank Tulloch tells me how at 73 years
young he cannot wait around to see this chimney cap patina, so
he wanted us to give it a work-over ahead of time. This was the
first time we had drafted out a chimney cap on the copper sheet,
and then spent the next week or so with it out in the wet
weather we have been having, with some added ammonia to help
speed this process a bit. The total cost for this with freight
to Winston-Salem, North Carolina is $4,406.70. This has a base
that is to fit over a wide course of brick that is 36" X 55.5"
long. The roof cover on this is 2" out past the width of the
base.

Here we built our first convex roof covered
chimney cap. It is for our Client Dr. James Shelton in Salem,
Oregon. The cost delivered and installed was to not exceed
$6.5k. Based on the final weights the cost went down by $314.09
below the quoted ceiling cost. I had first made him a simple
aluminum cover to tide him over and get a rough idea how this
sort of chimney cap would look.

Mughal in Northwest Portland. With installation this cost them
about $14.4k. The inside widths are 33" X 63", 36.5" X 69.25", and
40" square.
We had also been contracted to replace their
steel fascia gutters on this new house with our exclusive K-5 style
20oz copper gutter system. He also had us work to
recover these sad dormers with actual copper, in stead of this steel
that was painted to look like untarnished copper. From what I understand, an intentional
fraud by the Roofing Contractor.

Roberta and Scott Cline in Spring Grove, Illinois had their architect design
this classic castle looking house for them with these twisted chimneys and clay chimney pots, but they felt they were just too small and did not clearly show the detail of a King and Queen crown look they were after, so they finally found my web site, liked what we have done,
and wanted that for their new house. We have been ironing out the
details since Halloween of 2014 and finally was able to ship them over 2 years later.

20oz Copper Tuscany 10 Arch Style Chimney Cap
This custom copper chimney cap was built for our client: David
Hallet in Napa, CA. This was made to replace a defective tile and
stucco chimney cap they had been fighting with for some time. This
Clients actually flew up here to meet with us just before
fabrication began, then again to rent a small UHaul truck to drive
this down to Napa. We rarely get a chance to meet our out of State
Clientele, so this was a treat. Cost: $8,824.50 for

Subject: Best wishes from Napa
Good morning David
Sending you and all at Copper by Design my best wishes for a happy,
healthy and prosperous 2017. The chimney cap you made for me has
been tested by several winter storms with heavy horizontal rain from
40-50 mph winds. It is also developing a very nice weathered patina.
I absolutely made the right choice.
Best regards
David
