I commonly make these caps with just simple straight bottom edges (as shown above left), where we can bend a 1" safety-hem folded back under on that leading edge.  This adds to the cap's strength, safe installation, and less chance of deformation after installation.  The raised corner option simply gives the roof cap a more defined 3-D look, but it does add to the complexity of the design, fabrication time, more copper, and of course the cost. Our main goal is your satisfaction with the best balance of form, function, longevity and cost, so we do our best to offer as many options as possible.

Clearly the scallop and soft scallop tails have been the most popular tail design requested, but here below are several other options to choose from to add a dynamic flare.

Most of these tails displayed are made in between the corner bends, but we can also make them centered on the corner bend as well. Cap tail diagrams

As an example of what can be done; the Flame Style shown to the right can also come in this alternative flame tail. I also had clients send me actual leafs to copy and enlarge for use as a pattern.

I'm happy to receive diagrams from clients of alternative designs they would like me to recreate in copper.  I normally do not charge extra, since I'm looking to add interesting designs to our web site for future clients to see.

Cap top diagrams

Here is a few diagrams of shapes that these caps could be formed as that is a lot more decorative and ornamental than roof caps that are just simply made to lay flat to the roofing.  These cap designs can still have as many sides to them as your roof, but we cannot do these curves as seamlessly, like we do with most roof caps shown.  It would need to be made in as many pieces as there are sides to your roof peak.

The cost varies due to size and complexity.  It normally ranges between $55 to $75 per square foot of copper sheet metal needed to do these curves.  This includes the cost of ground shipping in the continental USA.
